What is Selective Blur?

Selective Blur (Pro feature) lets you choose exactly which faces to blur and which to leave visible. This is useful when you want to protect the privacy of some people while keeping others identifiable.

Basic Usage

1. Load a photo or video into SmartBlur.
2. The AI detects all faces — each one gets a numbered bounding box.
3. Click on a face to toggle its blur on or off.
4. Unblurred faces remain clear; blurred faces get the selected effect applied.
5. Save the result.

Staff Gallery

The Staff Gallery is a collection of known faces that SmartBlur recognizes automatically. This is ideal for:

• News organizations — Keep reporters visible, blur everyone else.
• Event coverage — Leave staff unblurred, blur attendees.
• School events — Keep teachers visible, blur students.

Adding Faces to the Gallery

1. Open Settings > Staff Gallery.
2. Click Add Person.
3. Enter a name (optional, for your reference).
4. Upload one or more reference photos of the person.
5. SmartBlur analyzes the facial features and adds them to the gallery.

Using the Gallery

When processing an image or video:

1. Enable Staff Gallery from the main toolbar.
2. SmartBlur matches detected faces against gallery entries.
3. Matched faces are automatically unblurred.
4. All other faces remain blurred.
5. You can still manually toggle any face by clicking it.

Matching Precision

Review Folder

After batch processing with the Staff Gallery, SmartBlur saves uncertain matches to a Review folder. You can:

1. Open the review folder from the notification.
2. Check each flagged image.
3. Confirm or correct the match.
4. Re-process only the corrected images.

Tips

• Better reference photos — Use clear, well-lit, front-facing photos for the gallery.
• Multiple angles — Add 2-3 reference photos per person for better matching.
• Periodic review — Check the Staff Gallery periodically and remove outdated entries.
