v2.1.6 — A Smoother Mac Experience
For macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon M1–M5.
- Improved reliability when accessing your plan.
- Kept your saved settings and existing license when updating.
- Update directly from 2.1.3, 2.1.4, or 2.1.5, without installing the versions in between.
Connect to the internet the first time you open SmartBlur after this update. Your saved license is recognized automatically, with no need to enter it again. Afterward, you can work offline for up to 30 days, or until your license or trial expires, whichever comes first.
v2.1.5 — More Reliable Mac Processing

- Made strong Gaussian blur more responsive during video and live-camera processing.

- Included the single-frame preview and adjustable Edge Feather introduced in 2.1.1.
v2.1.1 — Fast Frame Preview and Softer Privacy Edges
For macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon M1–M5.
- Added a quick preview at your selected point in a video, without processing the whole video first. The quick preview can look different from the completed video.
- Added Edge Feather to soften the edges of Gaussian, Mosaic, and Solid Shape redactions.
- Improved the efficiency of repeated Gaussian blur processing.
- Kept the selected region fully covered while softening the area just outside its edge.
v2.1.0 — Reliable Updates and Live Privacy Controls
This Windows website release added more control during live sessions and improved updates without changing which paid features each plan unlocked.
- Added controls to show or blur individual people during a live session, with new people blurred by default.
- Improved speed and reliability on supported Windows graphics hardware.
- Made Windows website updates available on Free accounts, trials, and active or expired licenses, including older licenses whose update period had ended. Paid features still depended on the license.
- Found newly available releases without restarting SmartBlur and downloaded updates in the background, ready for Restart & Upgrade.
v2.0.17 — SmartBlur Camera for Apple Silicon Macs
This website release introduced SmartBlur Camera for macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon M1–M5.
- Added SmartBlur Camera for Standard and Pro website licenses.
- Added one-time approval in System Settings → Privacy & Security, with guidance to reopen the receiving app afterward.
- Shared the locally processed camera view with compatible apps while keeping SmartBlur's preview visible.
- Improved stability when using SmartBlur Camera with other apps.
- Kept local webcam processing on Standard and Pro, with network camera input and processed recording on Pro.
- Included in-app updates for eligible Mac website installations.
v2.0.8 — SmartBlur for Apple Silicon Macs
This website release brought SmartBlur to macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon M1–M5.
- Added accelerated processing for Apple silicon Macs with Free, Standard, and Pro website plans.
- Included local photo, video, and batch processing on every plan; local webcam processing on Standard and Pro; and network camera input and processed recording on Pro.
- Added in-app updates for eligible Mac website licenses.
- Supported updating from SmartBlur 2.0.7 to 2.0.8, including automatically reopening the app afterward.
- Kept the seven-day Pro trial on one device and website license activation.
v2.0.6 — Licensing Reliability, Accessories & Standard Webcam
This Windows release made switching plans more reliable in the website and Microsoft Store editions. It also added more face accessories and brought local webcam privacy to Standard.
- Correctly showed Pro access after upgrading from Standard.
- Added layered face accessories, combining one eyewear, one headwear, and one face-covering option.
- Added Sunglasses, Round Glasses, Aviators, Cap, Beanie, Cowboy Hat, Mask, N95, and Bandana, positioned to follow the face.
- Added local webcam processing to Standard, while keeping network camera input and processed live recording in Pro.
- Added live background blur with adjustable strength for Standard and Pro webcams, plus Pro network camera input and recording.
- Added SmartBlur Camera to Standard and Pro in supported Windows website installations. The Microsoft Store edition did not include SmartBlur Camera.
v2.0.5 — Faster, Smoother Video Processing
This release made long video jobs clearer and more efficient, especially on Windows PCs with more than one graphics option.
- Automatically used the faster graphics option on supported Windows computers.
- Kept processing progress steady while a separate Preview auto-updates indicator explained preview refreshes.
- Improved efficiency when processing consecutive video frames and widely separated blur regions.
- Applied the Face confidence setting consistently.
- Made video previews and timeline analysis refresh more smoothly.
v2.0.2 — Windows Installation and Update Refresh
This maintenance release refreshed Windows installation and update detection. It included the complete SmartBlur 2 feature set, with no feature removals or plan changes.
- Updated the website installer and Microsoft Store release.
