Common Issues
GPU Not Detected
Problem: SmartBlur shows "No GPU found" or runs in CPU mode.
Solutions:
- Update your graphics drivers to the latest version.
- In Settings > GPU, manually select your GPU from the dropdown.
- If you have both integrated and dedicated GPUs, make sure SmartBlur is set to use the dedicated one.
- Some laptops require changing the GPU preference in Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
Virtual Camera Not Appearing
Problem: Other apps don't show "SmartBlur Virtual Camera" as a camera option.
Solutions:
- Restart your PC after installing SmartBlur.
- Close and reopen both SmartBlur and the other app.
- Make sure SmartBlur is running before opening the other app.
- In SmartBlur, disable and re-enable the virtual camera.
- Run SmartBlur as Administrator (right-click > Run as admin).
Poor Detection Accuracy
Problem: Faces are not being detected, or false positives are appearing.
Solutions:
- Increase detection sensitivity in Settings.
- Enable 360-degree mode for non-frontal faces.
- Reduce minimum face size for distant faces in group photos.
- Make sure images are not extremely low resolution or heavily compressed.
Slow Processing
Problem: Video or batch processing is taking too long.
Solutions:
- Enable GPU acceleration in Settings.
- Reduce the number of detection targets (disable body detection if not needed).
- Lower detection sensitivity if high accuracy is not critical.
- For batch processing, increase the thread count in Settings.
App Crashes
Problem: SmartBlur crashes during processing or on startup.
Solutions:
- Check that your graphics drivers are up to date.
- In Settings > GPU, try reducing the VRAM limit.
- Disable GPU acceleration and try CPU mode.
- Clear the app cache: close SmartBlur, delete
%APPDATA%/SmartBlur/cache, and restart. - Check the log file at
%APPDATA%/SmartBlur/logs/for error details.
License Activation Fails
Problem: "License not found" or "Device limit reached" when activating.
Solutions:
- Check that you entered the license key correctly (no extra spaces).
- Make sure you have an internet connection for the first activation.
- If you've reached the device limit, deactivate a previous device first.
- Contact support if the issue persists.
Blurry Output or Missing Faces
Problem: The output image has unexpected blur areas or some faces are not blurred.
Solutions:
- Increase face padding to ensure complete coverage.
- Try a different blur effect — Gaussian covers more area than mosaic.
- Check if detection sensitivity is set too low.
- Manually verify by toggling the detection overlay on.
