Start with SmartBlur Pocket
This guide covers SmartBlur Pocket for Android 1.0.4 (build 17). Pocket helps you cover faces and other details before sharing a photo. Photo editing runs on your phone, keeps the original unchanged, and does not require a SmartBlur account. Video is an optional cloud workflow with a separate upload confirmation and credit balance.
Install Pocket through the Android link on the download page. These steps use the Android app's visible button names.
Make your first protected photo
- On Home, tap Photo and select an image in the photo picker. If the empty photo screen appears, tap Choose photo. To take a new picture, use Camera on Home or Use camera in the photo screen.
- Wait for the photo to finish processing. Face detection starts automatically.
- Compare Original and Result. Choose Soft blur, Pixelate, Solid, or Stickers for the areas you want to cover.
- Open Objects to change a detected object's Hidden or Visible state. If something was missed, use Draw, choose Rectangle or Ellipse, and drag over it.
- Tap Save at the top of the editor. This opens the full-size Result review.
- Pinch to zoom and use two fingers to move around the image. Check small faces, edges, reflections, and any details you covered manually.
- Switch back to Result, select I’ve checked the result, then tap Save to keep a protected copy in Pocket's Library, or Share to send it to another app.
Saving in this review keeps the copy inside Pocket. To put it in your phone's gallery, open it in Library and tap Save to Photos.

Under Looks, choose a preset and tap Use look on a photo. It applies to your next edit.
Understand the optional extras
Pocket Pro is a one-time purchase for extra photo tools. Cloud video uses separate credits and a SmartBlur account. Buying Pro does not add video minutes. See Video & Credits and Account & Purchase Help.
If Save is disabled, wait for processing and make sure at least one area is covered. In the review screen, select Result and complete the checkbox. Stickers can leave parts of a face visible, so inspect the actual coverage.
