Available Effects

SmartBlur offers several blur and privacy effects. Choose the one that best fits your use case.

Gaussian Blur

The default effect. Applies a smooth, natural-looking blur.

  • Intensity — Controls blur strength (1-100). Default: 50.
  • Best for — General privacy protection, professional content.

Mosaic (Pixelate)

Creates a blocky, pixelated effect over detected regions.

  • Block size — Controls pixel size (4-32 pixels). Default: 12.
  • Best for — Quick anonymization, stylized content.

Solid Fill

Fills the detected region with a solid color.

  • Color — Choose any color. Default: black.
  • Best for — Maximum anonymization, redaction-style privacy.

Image Overlay

Replaces the detected region with a custom image (emoji, logo, etc.).

  • Image — Upload any image file.
  • Scale — Adjust the overlay size relative to the detection box.
  • Best for — Fun content, branded overlays, creative projects.

Bar (Eye Bar)

Adds a horizontal bar across the eye region, classic TV-style.

  • Color — Choose bar color. Default: black.
  • Thickness — Bar height relative to face height. Default: 25%.
  • Best for — TV/news style anonymization.

Changing the Effect

  1. Load your image or video.
  2. In the right panel, click the Effect dropdown.
  3. Select your desired effect.
  4. Adjust the effect-specific settings below the dropdown.
  5. The preview updates in real time.

Per-Face Effects

With Selective Blur (Pro), you can apply different effects to different faces:

  1. Enable Selective Blur mode.
  2. Click on a face to select it.
  3. Choose the effect for that specific face.
  4. Repeat for other faces with different effects.

Tips

  • Gaussian at 70-80% gives strong privacy while keeping the scene looking natural.
  • Mosaic is faster to render than Gaussian, useful for batch processing.
  • Solid Fill is the most secure option — no information is visible at all.
  • Image Overlay at 100% scale completely covers the detection area.
