Update Summary
Supported SmartBlur Windows and Mac website builds check for updates against the SmartBlur update service. Starting with Windows 2.1.0, Windows website app releases are available to Free, trial, active paid, paid-access-expired, and legacy update-window-expired installations. Licensing still controls paid features. Mac website update eligibility continues to follow its signed website channel, and Microsoft Store builds receive updates through Microsoft Store.
Windows versions earlier than 1.5.8, including 1.5.7, do not receive a direct in-app update to SmartBlur 2. Download and run the current Windows installer from smartblur.app/download.
Update Flow
When an eligible website build finds a new version:
- A banner appears in the header, for example, "v2.0.1 available".
- Click the banner to download the update.
- When the download finishes, click Restart & Install.
- SmartBlur installs the update and relaunches automatically.
The updater verifies the downloaded package before installation. Windows website releases follow their existing package-integrity checks. The Mac website updater requires and verifies the release's Minisign/Ed25519 signature before replacing the app bundle. Keep your license key or purchase email available before a major upgrade.
Upgrading from SmartBlur 1.x to SmartBlur 2

Updating the Mac website build
Eligible website builds for Apple silicon Macs use the signed in-app updater. An eligible earlier installation can discover SmartBlur 2.1.2, download and verify the signed update, replace the app in Applications, and relaunch automatically. If no eligible update appears, download the current signed, notarized, and stapled DMG from the download page and install it over the existing copy.
Website licenses, device activations, and signed updates remain part of the SmartBlur website channel.
Installing SmartBlur 2 does not convert an existing legacy lifetime license into an annual license. Legacy licenses keep their original access and update terms.

Renewal restores or extends paid feature access; it is not required merely to receive Windows website app updates. Existing lifetime access remains active under its original terms. Mac website builds continue to use their signed website update channel, and Microsoft Store builds update through Microsoft Store.
