Update Summary
Eligible SmartBlur website builds check for updates against the SmartBlur update service. Availability depends on the installed version, distribution channel, and license update entitlement. Microsoft Store builds receive updates through Microsoft Store.
Versions earlier than 1.5.8, including 1.5.7, do not receive a direct in-app update to SmartBlur 2. Download and run the current Windows installer from smartblur.app/download.
Update Flow
When an eligible website build finds a new version:
- A banner appears in the header, for example, "v2.0.1 available".
- Click the banner to download the update.
- When the download finishes, click Restart & Install.
- SmartBlur installs the update and relaunches automatically.
The updater verifies the downloaded package checksum before installation. Keep your license key or purchase email available before a major upgrade.
Upgrading from SmartBlur 1.x to SmartBlur 2

Installing SmartBlur 2 does not convert an existing legacy lifetime license into an annual license. Legacy licenses keep their original access and update terms.

After a current annual license expires, the app switches to the Free tier and stops receiving paid updates. Visit smartblur.app/renew to extend access and updates for another year. Existing lifetime access remains active even if its separate update window has ended.
