Download
- Go to smartblur.app/download or use the trial download link.
- Click Download to get the latest installer.
Install
- Run the downloaded
SmartBlur-Setup.exefile. - If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, click More info then Run anyway.
- Follow the installer prompts to choose your install location.
- The installer will set up the virtual camera driver automatically.
First Launch
When you launch SmartBlur for the first time:
- The app will ask how you want to get started — Start Free Trial or Enter License Key.
- If you choose the trial, you get 7 days of full access with no watermarks.
- The main interface appears with a simple drag-and-drop area for your files.
Virtual Camera Setup
SmartBlur includes a virtual camera for live video calls. After installation:
- Open your video conferencing app (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, OBS).
- In the camera settings, select SmartBlur Virtual Camera.
- Open SmartBlur and enable the virtual camera feature.
- Your video feed will now show through SmartBlur with real-time blurring.

Updating
SmartBlur checks for updates automatically on launch. When an update is available:
- You'll see a notification in the app.
- Click Download Update to get the latest version.
- The update installs automatically after download.
You can also check for updates manually from Settings > Check for Updates.
Troubleshooting Installation
If you encounter issues:
- Antivirus blocking the installer — Temporarily disable your antivirus, install SmartBlur, then re-enable it. Add SmartBlur to your antivirus exclusions.
- Virtual camera not appearing — Restart your PC after installation. The virtual camera driver requires a restart on some systems.
- App won't launch — Make sure you have Windows 10 or later (64-bit). Check that your graphics drivers are up to date.
